The past two weeks have been evil cold. -18°F (-30°F with wind chill) was the worst that I remember, (I think I’ve mentally blocked out the rest,) and I was huddled inside, blocking drafts. For one full weekend I was literally in survival mode, grabbing moving blankets and clipping them to window frames, since without blocking the winds it wouldn’t stay above 60°F inside the house.
I’ve also been rearranging my desk and computer set up after the big order at the beginning of the month, and realizing that it all just isn’t gonna work right away. They sent me the wrong cable for the Yamaha keyboard (that I’m not gonna return because it’s still a cable that I want and the cost is about the same.) The new stands for the lights are better than the clips, but I need more lights yet and the ones I have now have been discontinued, and (of course) the replacements aren’t as nice but cost more.
I’ve also been trying to do some data management, moving files between computers and the cloud (between accounts), tweaking directory structures. (Losing the main backups for my websites really peeved me, considering the terabytes of data I have and the amount of effort I put into sorting and structuring that data….)
I’m tentatively making plans to build a storage server to share drives with the other computers, and then having THAT sync to the cloud, but that’s just pencil on paper yet, not any firm actions.
Unfortunately, I seem to have gotten a cold at the end of the week – so my three day weekend has been turned into long naps interrupted by food and playing with the website.
So I’ll end here – I hope I can get more regular in the updates, but every time I start thinking I can get more regular in updates things go just a little sideways, so we’ll try but not bank on it.
I’m gonna go back to sleep for a few hours and then we’ll see what I’m up for after that.
Skåll!
